For almost six years I’ve been fortunate to live in The Rocks in the heart of Sydney. I’ve always wanted to take photos of this area, and in particular of the great house I’ve been living in all this time. An 1850s three-storey terrace at the end of a quiet dead-end street, it is just two minute’s walk from the city yet feels very separate from it.
Now that I’ve finally got a decent camera and a deadline, I’ve started to take those photos. This is an occasional series that I’ll add to when I can…

- The Australian Hotel
- Gloucester St side of hotel
- from Observatory Hill
Hey Damien, welcome to the world of blogging! I got the heads-up from James that you had joined the ranks. So far, so very good! I can’t wait to see more of your photos and hear about your travels.
Cheers,
Andrew
(PS. I’m a friend of James’s, we met at his going away party.)
Thank you! Of course I remember you from the farewell – can we talk him into a “return party” do you think??
I’m still finding my feet with this whole blog thing, but I want it running seamlessly when I head to China for a mini-trip in December. Only 10 weeks to go 🙂
I think we should, he definitely needs some sort of celebration before he heads back to the daily grind of work!
I think travel blogging is an excellent way to not only share your experiences, but create a diary for yourself to look back on. I know James said that it also focused his mind on appreciating what was happening each day. Those 10 weeks until then will fly by, no doubt.
Damien & Andrew, James needs a ‘welcome back’ party. I met him in Amsterdam, we had dinner together, and he’s such a lovely guy.
Maybe you guys can force him to make a gallery of all the pix he took of himself, same face different background.
Yeah maybe…
